Thanksgiving should be practiced year round
Thanksgiving as a holiday has been celebrated as a federal holiday every year since 1864, when, during the American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens,” to be celebrated on the last Thursday in November.
This was a great idea from a great president but we should not wait until the last Thursday of November. We should be thankful everyday and in fact it should be a prominent characteristic of our personality. Out of the 10 lepers that were healed by Jesus, only one returned to give thanks.
In everything give thanks!
Every day, every moment, every opportunity should be given to thanks. Even in the bad times we can say, “all things work together for good.”
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18
